Q - What are the main milestones for FGH?
Every year FGH creates new milestone to achieve. Our strategy is to enter new markets and establish leading business in Iraq. We have so far achieved creating the largest Iraqi private company, which is Asiacell, the only mobile company covering all of Iraq's 18 governorates. We have created in partnership with Lafarge Iraq's leading producer of cement, we are now completing our five star grand Millennium in Sulaimani which will be the latest tower in Iraq. Furthermore, the largest hospital in Iraq, and the first \ iv solution factory in Iraq, and we will be continue setting new milestone for our company every year.
Q - What were the main challenges that FGH faced in the local and Arab market?
Iraq, as a country, faces challenges every day. Doing business in Iraq is very profitable, though it is risky because of the country's instability and political issues. That is why our business plans are tailor-made for Iraq. In addition to our know-how and quick adaptation to the market, we were able to face all the challenges and Iraq market was able to provide us with unique margins.
Q - What about your expansion plans?
Expansion is a must, though balancing the risk of our portfolio is a priority. However, for now we have no plans outside of Iraq. The opportunities in Iraq are immense, and far from fully utilized.
Q - Why did you start your business from Sulaymaniyah?
Our management is from Sulaymaniyah and we are moving our city's economy in order to make Sulaymaniyah an industrial, telecommunications and education hub.
Q - Who are your main competitors?
We have many competitors in the region for each of our companies, though our group has always been able to compete and will be a leader based on our market leadership in terms of both financially and penetration wise.
Q - Why did you add hospitality to your group of companies?
The main reason behind targeting hospitality is to attract more visitors to Sulaymaniyah and provide international quality accommodations for guests and tourists coming from all over the world. Additionally, we would be providing accommodation for our FGH clients, delegates and all of our business and board meetings.
Q - Why did you participate with the ATM?
ATM is a very important exhibition in the Arab World, therefore we participated in order to highlight and promote Sulaymaniyah and its community within the exhibitions and to showcase our hospitality group of companies.
Q - What about FGH CSR plans?
We are planning to start a nonprofit organisation for charity activities. The main role of this organisation is to complete and support the group's strategy and achievements in philanthropy. One of our main achievements is the financial support to university students in Sulaymaniyah.
Q - Any special announcement about FGH future plans?
Iraq is a promising market; it has more growth potential than any other market in the world in the coming 5 to 10 years. Our operations in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil will support our entry into the Iraq market with all kinds of businesses. We are planning to enter the banking sector, in order to assist our other businesses on the financial services side. Hopefully we will be able to establish our company by 2011. We are also planning to enter power generation and electricity fields; the vision is not yet clear, once it is we will certainly create a buzz about it.
